Candle Care & Safety
A little care goes a long way. Follow these simple steps to get the longest, cleanest, and safest burn from every MW Home candle.
Getting the best burn
- The first burn matters most. Let the wax melt all the way to the edges of the vessel on your first light (about 2–4 hours). This prevents “tunneling” and helps your candle burn evenly for its full life.
- Trim the wick. Before every light, trim the wick to about ¼ inch. This keeps the flame steady, reduces soot, and helps the candle last longer.
- Keep burns to 4 hours. Avoid burning for more than 4 hours at a time. Let the candle cool fully before relighting.
- Stop at ½ inch. Discontinue use when about ½ inch of wax remains, to protect the vessel and the surface beneath it.
Safety first
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Keep away from children, pets, and anything flammable — curtains, books, bedding.
- Burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from drafts.
- Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches, and debris.
- Always extinguish before leaving the room or going to sleep.
When your candle is finished
Our vessels are made to be reused. Once your candle is done, clean out any remaining wax with warm, soapy water and give it a new life — as a holder for brushes, plants, trinkets, or anything you like.
